That’s what I was thinking when you replied to Ron. When you mentioned an “ugly future,” my own view is that I’m more concerned about the outcomes people choose to create than what synthetic intelligence might produce on its own. There isn’t much outcry about human behavior itself, even when both paths can lead to similar outcomes. At that point, it becomes a question of which trajectory we end up taking. I also appreciated the links Ron shared. If there’s interest, I’d encourage continuing the LLM discussion—the topic shouldn’t be off-limits if others find it useful. The purpose of 9fans is, in my understanding, to share ways to advance Plan 9. As for LLMs, I find them most useful when you take the time to study and understand their tendencies. That perspective is similar to work I’ve done in fields like meteorology and economics, where interpreting model behavior is often as important as the outputs themselves.
