It's effective, if a touch indiscriminate.  It probably will lead to
DoS eventually, which is why I'm tempted by the X.509 certificate
approach.  But of course I have no idea how to distribute
certificates, I'll have to renew my acquaintance with Mark
Shuttleworth (I _do_ know him, but I'm not being serious), before I
can make any serious suggestions.
