i have had a similar problem with acrobat reader -- it turned out it was using /usr/bin/lpr instead of /usr/local/bin/lpr. one is lpr, the other is lprng. one works, the other doesn't. trying to figure out which configuration utility belongs to which lpr is quite a bit of fun, as they're aptly named "lprsetup.sh" and "lprtool" of course all that lpr hilarity ensued only after i had figured how to prevent acroread from crashing on startup with: % acroread Warning: charset "UTF-8" not supported Segmentation Fault % i wish i had something witty to put here, but this stuff just makes me sad.
