yes, or more aggressive: OS remaps virtual memory and then removes that physical memory from the maps. I mean, if the DIMM with your kernel is bad, it's all over; but if it is some other DIMM, well, maybe it won't be too hard. Or maybe it will.

Needed for hot plug memory and xen.

Also, the memory rmap needs rewriting anyway; here's a chance to get this done.
