Gawk also has this "feature", wont be long before someone adds it to cat(1)... "do one thing, and do it well" has become "do everything, everywhere, poorly" I have been wondering lately why don't the FSF replace the whole Hurd with bash, it even has emacs(nee libreadline) built in! All features built into a single program, and then use some sort of virtualization to provide isolation... and the software industry has gone full circle once more. Some times I wonder if any progress is possible, or for every step forward we take, we will grow an extra leg that takes us back to square zero. uriel
