[9fans] strtochan

i have "b4g4r4" and strtochan returns chan=2364420 but chantodepth(chan) 
returns 0, and chantostr(s, chan) returns nil.

i realize this is a wierd format; is it just not recognized?  how do i tell if
a particular channel format is valid?
