I think you're mixing bit and bytes.  13.859MB/s, closer to the actual
rates, is remarkably close to 110Mb/s, so if you're ether is 100Mb/s,
perhaps you're getting the benefit of caching.  If you want to go
faster, upgrade to GbE.
