Hello! My name is Kyrre Nygård and I'm a student at the University of Bergen, Norway, currently doing this school research project trying to document the next generation of operating systems that is starting to emerge across the world. Plan9 is to me one of the most interesting projects, however I was surprised not to find a group of developers on the Freenode or OFTC IRC networks. Luckily I found this mailinglist, so I'll just go ahead and ask. I'm not sure how important they may be to you, but I would be very interested in looking at the kernel output (e.g. dmesg in BSD) just to see what I might expect. And also, if possible, a listing of the Plan9 hierarchy? Preferably using this file listing script: http://paste.husk.org/6847. Anyway I hope it differs from the utterly complex Filesystem Hierarchy Standard, which may seem logical to brain washed software developers, but to normal people pure madness. That's it for now I guess, thank you so much for your time. All the best, Kyrre
Well, you apparently managed to find Freenode/#plan9 eventually, because I just talked to you this morning (or to somebody asking the EXACT same thing). Anyway, if you're in Norway, I suggest getting an account at http://9grid.de/. The accounts are free and you should be able to get decent connections from Norway (I hope). You'll get an account on a fully-configured Plan 9 machine, and you can explore to your heart's content. John Floren -- "The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers" -- Shakespeare, Henry VI
