i've always found mice inefficient. my plan is to build a sprung foot-rest with two-dimensional tilt sensors to replace my mouse. i think it would need to be more like a joystick than a mouse, probably with acceleration proportional to the tilt (and pressure). i haven't figured out the buttons yet: thumb-operated keys below the space bar seems like the best option for me.
