i think this has gone off track. i read brucee's original post as an
argument against polluting c with asm()/__asm{}. obviously there is
asm in the plan9 distro; try du -a /sys/src| grep '\.s$' . for which
it uses /sys/doc/asm.ps
alas, in a world where "a computer" is windows on a x86, you can use
assembler for everything and not worry about portability. every cycle
you save is one more for vista. knock yourselves out:
