I'd figure ACPI (lack of), but I can't check.  I do have a host that has
no ACPI capabilities and I successfully booted NetBSD through the right
incantations.  I didn't get Linux to boot, but I did not try very hard.

Plan 9 also failed and I no longer recall what shape the failure took.
