i assume you are talking about the kernel and not 9load.
this card is recognized by plan 9. /sys/src/9/pc/etherigbe.c:38
i82545em = (0x100F<<16)|0x8086,
the other reason it would appear that your card is not recognized
is that it is not resetting properly.
if you are also in athens, i would be happy to take a look if you'd
