Janet   My suggestion to you would be to join a group that deals with
Windows XP and due your unfounded research to get some information to better
get an understanding of Windows XP. You keep saying over here in the UK as I
said I don't think a location has anything to do with the operation of
Windows XP.  I don't think you have a clue at what your talking about.  John

Yes, it may be less expensive but, on groups such as this we will be 
told that XP Home is less stable, dare I use the word that its more 
"buggy" than XP Pro.
I have seen here in the UK where some laptops that are being sold do 
have XP Pro.   You have supplied the answer, XP Home is cheaper.  I 
wonder if with some they would allow the purchaser to have that 
option, XP Home or XP Pro.
I dont see that it has any reference to whether the purchaser is a 
home user or not, the point in issue is reliability, I know you will 
agree.
As you say, it may work differently here in the UK.
