Try to take this step-by-step before you call the undertaker to haul your burner away.
I've not heard of IBM Record Now and I have never used WMP to record with but, CD recording programs are known for sometimes interfering with each other. Roxio and Nero, for example, used to be totally unable to co-exist on the same computer. Whether that's still so, or not, is unknown to me. When you say that the whole CD will be copied, what do you mean? Do the lights on both cd drives blink and if so, for how long. Can you hear the drives turning? When the supposed burn is finished, can you take the disk out and look at its backside and see the burned tracks on it? You keep talking about "the Cd has been closed". That's something you'll do with a packet written cd only. 16X speed can be way too much for many burners to write reliably,. Have you tried at 2 or 4X? If your burner program can't see that you even have your player CD-Rom, then the problem isn't the burner but something in your setup, which means that you'll have to un-install it and re-install. Have you tried that? Now you say that last night things seem to have changed again. My suggestion is that you un-install your burner programs, scan your registry with something like EasyCleaner and remove any leftover entries for those burner programs. Then re-install Nero only and try again. BTW, for just burning music, I've been using MusicMatch Jukebox for a few years now (with an upgrade or two) and there's nothing more rock solid for doing that job, in my experience. I have not, in transcribing well over 400 78's and 33's (those are shellack and vinyl disks for you larvae out there) and another 80 or so cassettes, had one bad burn. So I and others can learn something, come back and let us know what you have done and what happened (or didn't).
