I see it like this:

Your asking about why your computer is freezing. Compare it to asking
why your toliet is clogged.

You don't just keep pushing the handle, you try to get something to
poke and prood out the problem (plunger)

For your computer, whenever you have problems, you always check out
ways to poke at it to see whats going on. A virus seems to be the
issue, it could have changed settings (also spyware does that) and
make it so you crash when you try to get on the internet.

I got two real examples for you. A friend wanted me to help him find
"legal" music on the internet. I go to his house, get on his computer,
connect to the internet (he got cable) and LORD, THERE IS SPYWARE
GALORE!. After running Avast (virus scanner) and Spybot (spyware
scanner...both FREE) he could manuver around the internet/computer a
lot faster.

My computer was terrorized w/virii, to the point where I couldn't get
to my desktop when rebooting. AVAST helped me out, and even cleared up
the internet problems. (SPYBOT helped finish the job)

I REALLY WANT TO GET THIS ACROSS, HENCE THE CAPS. GET THE FREE
SOFTWARE OF AVAST OR AVG FOR ANTIVIRUS, AND ADAWARE OR SPYBOT FOR
SPYWARE. GO TO DOWNLOAD AND PUT IT IN THE SEARCH BOX AND DOWNLOAD IT.
UNTIL THAT HAPPENS, YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS CONNECTING TO THE INTERNET.
IF THAT DOESN'T HELP (WHICH WOULD BE RARE) THEN CALL YOUR MANUFACT.,
BUT IT WILL WORK. ANYONE IN THIS GROUP WILL REPEAT THE SAME ADVICE.

Added bonus: this is what to do when you're using it. LATHER, RINSE,
REPEAT.
