Hi, 

It sounds like a hardware conflict. I suggest you update all your
drivers. If you have to go to another computer to download to a disk
then do so.

Device manager may not show a conflict so try updating the drivers
anyway. Sometimes the drivers supplied by the M$ installation disk are
just to old. One of the reasons I suggest to others when you install a
new device you then immediately go to the manufacturer site to upload
the latest driver for your system.
