Hi Jan

I see Nathan has told you where to find System Restore and how to run msconfig.

Re your new question, apart from the fact that it is illegal to make copies of
and distribute MS
software, I would in any case prefer to have the genuine article ie a MS W2000
OS disk, rather than
a copy, which I just would not be happy with, but it is your choice. Re Linux,
I have in fact
recently installed Suse Linux on a pc just for the sake of seeing what it looks
like and how it
performs in comparison with MS Windows. Initially I am quite impressed but it
is a bit of a new
learning curve which is far from easy. I have not for instance been able to
make a successful
internet connection yet but I am still working on it LOL! There are a lot of
features similar to
Windows but slightly different and with different names. If you have plenty of
time on your hands
by all means try it out but in my opinion it is something to get used to
gradually rather than just
making a straight switch from Windows to Linux.

With the help of a friend, I was able to install it on an XP pc and it was able
to partition the
hard drive so that I now have a dual boot option XP or Linux. The installation
went smoothly apart
from one problem which meant that I could not boot in XP, but that was
eventually resolved by a
change to a bios setting, which was achieved by luck and guesswork more than
anything else LOL! As
much as I detest XP I was relieved to get it back! I have heard that Linux,
with Open Office and
many other features is being given away free in the form of a dvd disk with
certain computer
magazines.

Thanks Rupert.

I appreciate your posts. After reading it I updated and re-ran
Adware and Spyware again. They both found some things, so maybe that
will help. Maybe not.

**Question: Please tell me, how do I run msconfig?

I will follow the advice on the link about uninstalling Norton NIS
2005 as soon as I get a chance.

I will try to figure out how to turn off Windows ME restore feature,
as soon as I get a chance.

**New question: I posted a request on Freecycle for Win 2000. One
person said he'd make me a copy. One person said they would send me a
Linux program for free. What do you think of Linux? Would it be
hard to learn? The information says it is equal to Win XP. I don't
know anything about either one. If anyone knows anything, please
post!

Thanks so much!

Best wishes,
Jan
