When that happened to me 5 or so years ago, it was with the number 3.  
3s everywhere.  Turned out to be the keyboard.  Not saying it is your 
keyboard, but it is possible.  For me though, I had dial-up then and my 
password to connect always got overwritten by 3s so I could not get onto 
the internet.
