For the first time ever I have today had problems with Sygate Firewall. On logging in it required to tell Microsoft of the problems and Dr. Watson popped up with an explanation, closing down Sygate at the same time. I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted, carried out another download/installation, rebooted with the result that I have now installed Zone Alarm. I am not happy to have had to do that because I found Sygate user friendly.
Accessing the Zone Alarm download from a CD I got a blue screen error message CDFS File System Stop 0x00000026. I rebooted as instructed and rebooted without a problem. Later, an error message saying that this system had recovered from a serious error. ther Error signature is: BCCode:26 BCP1:000401F4 BCP2:F61CBAE0 BCP3:F61CB1DC BCP4:A96C947D OSVer: 5_1_2600 SP:2_0 Product 256_1 My PC is a Dell Dimension 8400 with 250GB HD and double memory and has only a Recovery Disk. Does anyone know what this means, other than most errors are human. :-( Can someone please check this security page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/887742 and tell me if I should instal this recommended patch.
