System Restore, is, an 'accident waiting to happen'.  It is, sort of 
analogous to the scene from 'Back To The Future II' where, the doc 
mentions about Biff stealing the time machine and, being on that 
'alternate reality'.  Whoever told you to do a 'rollback', has, 'a 
vacancy upstairs', their 'cheese slipped off the plate', they 'burned 
their oatmeal in the toaster' or, tried 'skipping on the ice'.

Have you tried re-installing Windows XP?
