Hi Pam,
My recommendation is for you to contact Bell South first, before you do
anything else. It doesn't sound like a software problem to me.
Rupert Bear's comment about a Dell in IOW was mine. I have made recent
comments in mail here about my experience with a Dell PC as opposed to one that
was built for me; I have only ever had two, before my present Dell 8400, that
were both cloned. The Dell Technician that Dell in India sent to me - from a
Dell contractor within 24 hours to replace my HD, told me that "its all a
matter of time" when, an hour after he had gone I had got an error message.
Her told me these PCs are built with the turn of a key 20 at a time with the
O/S and all software - that's how they can do it for the price - and it seems
from that stage, through delivery and set up they take time to settle.
On the other hand, I am quite prepared to accept that some of my problems were
of my own making; I uninstalled a CD burning software called "Sonic", full
program that was already installed, and I am quite sure that was when my
problems started.
Since the second HD was installed and the software, one at a time, it seems
much more stable, or it could be that I have got used to using it.
Could it be that having a new PC is like buying a new car, it takes a little
while to get to know it?.
Janet
