Updates are the name of the game when it comes to solving windows problems. Updated drivers, updated OS patches, updated virus and spyware programs. The KEY to it all is of course UPDATES. Keep all of these updated and malware, spyware, viruses can be cleaned. By the way, it's best to run the scans in safe mode if possible. I have brought pc's back from the brink more than once by updating all the programs, especially the spyware and virus programs, running them in safe mode which allowed me to completely clean the infestations to render the machine back to working order.
