I complained by e-mail support to Dell about this issue and was advised that I
should check the pins in the connection or buy a new mouse, they didnt check to
see that my PC was still under the 90 return back guarantee.

You've confirmed the technicalities of it. I think I should mention that I ran
two mouse together, one a Dell and the other, older, a Microsoft Intellimouse,
with under light and tail light. The Dell only has an under light only. Its
the Dell light mouse that was delinquent. :-)

We've now realised its the mouse mat that Dell distribute with their PCs. Is
this the case with everyone here who has a delinquent mouse I wonder?
I would throw a cat amongst the mouse mats in that my Microsoft Intellimouse
worked fine on the Dell mouse mat. Now there's something to ponder. ;-)
