Jim: No you couldnt invite the Pope even if you knew his e-mail address without his having authorised the use of his address in that way.
You can only invite someone and add someone if they have given permission in their e-mail preferences; all group owners and moderators with the appropriate privileges can use the Yahoo features afforded to them i.e. invite someone. Yahoo gives a caution in adding someone without their permission. Check it out. If they have not done so, you will get an automated mail from Yahoo telling you that this person does not authorise invites or direct adds. Check it out in your own e-mail preferences, following my earlier instructions. If you change someone's e-mail address even with their authority I would recommend that you ask them to confirm that you do so, keeping a note of that confirmation. It is strange, or maybe not so, how people change their minds and take offense when they cannot remember giving you permission. That in itself could be catastrophic to your group if someone complained to Yahoo. I understand the position totally with regards your sister and you may be safe in doing it, but you will only be able to do it, as I say if she has authorised it in her e-mail preferences.
