I didn't mean to imply other companies don't get complaints about their 
products.  Some get more than others.  It's just that Dell has been around for 
a long time.  I had my first XT computer built and at that time Dells were on 
the market.  That was when I started researching consumer complaints about 
products.  Dell was a prepriority system them and consumers were complaining 
then about how some software applications didn't run on their computers and 
support was poor.  Same problem for Gateway computers.  I personally know of 
two cases where consumers had several problems with their Gateway computer and 
switch to custom-built computer after small claim court judgements.  One things 
consumers MUST do is research their product before purchasing and if you are 
not familiar with the product, take someone with you who knows.  Salesman are 
their to sell the product, but may not be knowledable about the specifics.  
Since my first computer, I have alway had mine custom-built with more than
 enough memory, hard drives, and the best graphics card and sound because I 
knew what I plan to do with my computer.  Never had the problems I read about 
with my computers.  Maybe I'm just lucky.

I think all companies get complaints about their products or service. 
What matters are what percent of the total customers have trouble AND 
how effectively the cmopany deals with the complaint. If you go to site 
that's about complaints, of course you wll see a  lot of them.
