Hi,
I'm going to be publishing a couple of books. I am not very good at
page layout/typesetting, so I'm going to pay someone to do it for me.
When I used to do it before, I used Adobe PageMaker and have the most
recent copy on my computer. I understand that adobe stopped updating
PageMaker. So that doesn't sound like a good choice for the long-term.
What I would like to do is have someone do the page layout, but still
be able to make corrections and revisions to the text myself. So I
need to have it done in a program that I can use myself and a program
that the book manufacturers will accept.
Is Adobe Indesign similar enough to PageMaker that the learning of it
will not be difficult? Or is there a different program that would be
better for me to learn that the book manufacturers will also accept?
People have mentioned Adobe PDF, Distiller, and Quark. My
understanding is that Quark is very different and I would have a hard
time learning it. All advice appreciated.
