Brian Maxmumim PC did a great article on motherboards and OEM computers a few months back that I think anyone working on computers should read. OEM OS software hass a code in it that matches the motherboard that the OEM vendor put in the computer, these two codes must match for the OEM os to work. Sometimes if the OS is already on the HDD then it will boot. However if the system ever crashes then the enduses cannot reload the OEM software because the code on the mobo and OEM software will not match. This may be your problem with it now. If the mobo ever goes bad in an OEM computer if the enduese does not feel like buying a retail version then the computer is really no good.
