Jim, thanks for your reply and in a round about way
solved my problem!
I did as you suggested only to find on boot up that
there was no OS....reason; I had the BIOS set to boot
from the backup HD first and not the drive with the OS
on it :-(((
I still have some inaccessible data on this HD but if
don't get in the way, who cares :-)))
