Hi, I just joined the group here and I have a minour problem. Background: I have win. XP Home that was preinstalled and of course the vender didn't include the backup utility. Also preinstalled was NAV 2001 in which I removed and upgraded to NIS upto 2004. Then I removed that to go with a better support one. Now to my problem: Some of my older CD software programmes I just wanted to double check them all out to see what was all on them. However when I put them into the CD Rom in which it would start to run to install though even before I stop that I would get an error message:
Error Message: 16 Bit Win Subsystem C:Program/~1\symantic\s32evnt1.dll An installable virtual device driver failed dll initialization. Close or Ignore I closed it for I didn't want additional problems to occur! However after a lot of google search it appears that many would ignore and their program would run find. Nevertheless I don't want to deal with such error each and everytime. So I found that after all I will have to delete s32evnt1.dll from the registry. Not something I like to do being that I am not an expert. However I did learn how to replace a hard drive in an older computer and that was an accomplishment for me anyway. Now I do understand if going into the registry it is crucial to make a backup. But as I said I do not have the OS CD. However I found this site and was wondering if anybody know if this is genuine for downloading win backup utility or will I have more problems? http://www.onecomputerguy.com/windowsxp_tips.htm Below is the description: Installing the Backup Program on the Home Version Added 4/1/02 By default, the NTBACKUP program is not installed on the home version. If so one question for those that has this utility. Is it an easy user friendly program? If it's not wise to download this what about this site I was told by another person to download. OK with all of this said I also read that I could just go into the registry and export full or part and put it into a file (RegBU) such as on the desktop.
