Without being a techie I've been reading in groups such as this, for some time, 
that two AVs and two Firewalls are recommended, as well as more than one 
Ad-Aware software is recommended.  The reason for that is that those who write 
the software arent synchronised.  AVG may be ahead of Avast one month and the 
next Avast may be ahead of AVG is a simple explanation.  In the alternative, 
utilise online scanning and removal tools.  I guess on the strength of that, I 
guess your article is spot on.
