Hi Mike, You may be surprised, maybe not, to know that I am sighted. I'm very disability conscious because I realised that the internet rather would have us all equal, when we are not and its very easy for people to think that way. About a year or so ago it occurred to me that we have a wealth of information to find in these groups, and on the internet as a whole and that there would be absolutely no excuse for not knowing about a piece of software that one day we might need. So I set about learning of the capabilities of JAWS and Window Eyes, and as soon as I showed an interest in them, the blind on groups came forward; I met one who had written his own website and I learned that the software can print out in Braille. I used an early version of DragonDictate for Windows because of the spinal injury I have, so that were I to lose the use of my touch typing abilities that I learned at the age of 10 I would still be able to use a computer. I didn't continue to use it. I did realise its capabilities and what it took to be able to get the software to do what I might want it to do. Since then speaking software has improved greatly because those who do business on their feet have found a use for it in their able bodied lives. It's a question of being open to possibilities I think.
