When it comes to motherboards, ask Jim/NT/Emile/Rick Hi Rupert: When it comes to Motherboards, you and I have about the same level of expertise. All I might be able to say is that when you have been fixing other people's stuff for over fifty years you learn that substitution is faster and cheaper than long diagnosis. With PCs there are stages to repairs that I call the four Rs. Re-boot, Restore, Re-install (OS and Drivers), and Replace. When you reach Replace, your are desperate. You substitute every part from the simplest. Beg or borrow spares when possible. When you reach the Motherboard without fixes, you watch for a bargain, purchase a motherboard and start back towards the OS. That's all I know about Motherboards. If you reach that point about testing the Motherboard, you probably will need to buy one anyway. There are a few shortcuts you learn. I won't go into them all except to explain what I mean. "You only need one small memory chip to check that problem". Work in the simplest mode you can. Remove all devices not needed. Un-install drivers completely before re-installing. Windows will install new drivers for most things only when re-booted. Emile [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------ Yahoo!
