A very recent and very serous flaw has been found affecting most versions of
Windows. If you have automatic update turned on, default with SP-2., you may
not have anything to be concerned about. For a lengthy discussion of the
problem go to twit.com and click on the Security Now show # 20 and 21, I
think.
If you use a router I think that this too will prevent most security
breaches. Use of a NAT router, [all routers are NAT router as far as I know]
is the best security measure I know of, even if you only have one computer.
