Dell doesn't make monitors, instead the 'brand' monitors made by other
manufacturers.
The higher end Dell monitors are made by SONY.  These tend to be
excellent and provide a long service life.
Lower end Dell monitors are made by,.. well whoever can make them the
cheapest.  Ususally Samsung makes the lower end monitors (they even
make some for NEC, a competitor!).

That said you may not find that the new Dell monitor will perform the
same as the old one since they may be made by a different
manufacturer.  No doubt: a $1000 monitor will be of excellent quality,
as most larger (21+") screen models are.
