I have recently ran into a problem that while refurnishing a used
laptop. Now the OS I have installed was windows 2000 on 4 floppy disk
which installed fine now I was in the process of formatting a drive
which finish and was rebooting to contuine with the next step. The
BIOS loaded now it stated something that I believe is causing the
problem but I'm not sure and that is PXE-E61 Media test failed check
cable from there it just goes to a blank screen yet all the lights and
fans keep running. I tried to manuelly rebooted it again and it comes
to the screen after the BIOS screen of where the agreement of the
Windows 2000 screen and again ask me to format a partition however the
orignal one that I formatted is there however it states that the C:
drive where it should be is unknown and that another OS is located on
it however it won't install it again only delete the partition and
then the process starts all over again where the format is complete
and the screen goes blank. Now would this be caused by the media test
failing or is the hard drive failing the reason I ask this is at one
time in the installing of the OS the setup did say that the drive may
have failed? Anyone insight on this problem would be very helpful
thank you.
