Hi, I wonder if anyone can help with this. I've got a DVD on which I've saved copies of all the ebooks I've come across over the last few years. Now my DVD drive has decided to refuse to read this particular disc (and a few others, but this one is the one that's important to me) and I don't know why. As soon as the disk is in the drive and I click on the drive letter, the system crashes. So not only can I not access the disk or its contents, I can't even transfer the files to my hard disk (so I can copy them to another or do whatever I want with them).
I have a friend who's very good with computers, and I know if I asked him he would try to read the disk on his computer and then put them on another disk for me, but he's having a lot of personal (family) problems right now, so I don't want to bother him. Does anyone know of a way I can get the files back? I've tried copying the disk, but I get as far as reading the info, then the program can't deal with it. I've also tried making an image of the disk, then copying that image, but again the program I'm using (Ashampoo Burning Studio 5) comes to a halt at the point where it should copy the image. I'm stuck! I could always ask my mate, and I might have to, but is there a way I can get round this myself, without bothering anyone else? ------------------------ Yahoo!
