thanks for everyone for the help with the system restore. I talked with my son last night and he told me that whenever he turns on his computer, it tells him that he has a trojan horse. That's how discovered that his system restore wasn't working.
So he wants to freshly reinstall XP. I don't think that he has Service Pack 1 or 2 in his computer because service pack 1 was suppose to take care of the system restore problem that XP apparantly comes with, according to what I read last night.
