Can anyone tell me which are better Modems, Internal or External?
I have heard that externals are better than PCI internals. Also what
are your views for best brands? I have had Zoom Externals in the past
and found them very easy to install and very dependable on the serial
port. They were also able to run on almost any driver. However, now
there are USB Modems. Are they any good and will they function without
an AC adapter or on a Computer with USB 1.1? Has anyone had any
experience with Actiontec Modems? How good are they?
The reason I am asking is I want to upgrade my computer to USB 2.0. I
don't have any available PCI slots so I was thinking of removing the
internal modem and going to an external. I am not sure if that would
be a good move especially if I would need another electric outlet for
it.
