I had my Dell Dimension 2350 working with a 160GB WD SATA drive for more than a year. I am running Windows XP pro. I used PCI SATA Adaptec Raid Controller 1210SA.
I then installed PCI Litronic Argus 2500 PCMCIA Card Reader that I purchased on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN% 3AIT&viewitem=&item=5876265072&rd=1&rd=1 When I power-up the the Dell Dimension 2350 system I had a total system failure. I think there maybe Conflict between the Adaptec Raid Controller and the PCI Argus 2500 PCMCIA Card Reader. The motherboard, cpu or Power Supply failed in my DELL system. Does anyone have any suggestions.
