Thanks Rupert and Paris, I have the original cd for the printer but what I'm
looking for is a repair manual so that I can clean the waste tank & pad. I
tried the links that Paris gave me but some of the links didnt work. I just
need to know how to pull the printer apart so that I can get to the tank and
pad. Cheers.
(Unplug both the power and USB cables from the printer)
Firstly remove the paper loader that slides into the back of the printer.
Secondly, push the left edge guide over to the left, as far as it will go, you
do that by holding down the locking tab. The left edge guide is the gizmo
that holds the paper in place. Thirdly, press on the the front of the casing
either side of the output tray - located there there is 2 plastic catches
(one on each side) by applying gentle to moderate pressure you will feel them
move. When you feel these go start to prise the front of the case upwards
you will meet some resistance at the sides of the casing just before it
reaches the back, they are little catches similar to those at the front.
Fourthly,
look at the back of the case you will see that they are three plastic
catches which are pressing into little holes with a small screw driver, one at
a
time press these in with a smallish flat headed screwdriver and move the case
a
little just so the the catches are not slotted into the holes. Now
carefully prise the whole top case away from the bottom and manoeuvre it free
from
the paper guide.
Towards the back of the printer you will see a little compartment with a
little tube going into it this contains two little felt pads about 3 inches
long. They start out white but they may be black, dont wear your best clothes
and wear rubber gloves, prise these out with the screw driver. Wash them in
running water till the water is clear using a mild detergent , I used washing
up liquid, I patted them partially dry in an old towel, or similar, then I
dried them with a hair dryer. When dried I replaced them and reversed the
procedures above. Then I found just as Epson don't want you to have access to
service manual, they don't want you to get hold of their setting tool. So I
used the SSC utility that I provided details of previously. This helps me
save
loads on ink, and also to refill cartridges etc.
I hope this helps
Paris
