Ivan, I did that when I first started having problems. I ran Norton Systemworks, PC Bug Doctor, Ad-aware, AVG, and Webroot SpySweeper. Other than Active X problems, which it always finds and fixes, the usual spyware cookie bits, and invalid shortcuts--(all fixed) nothing was wrong. I run a firewall, AVG, and Webroot Spysweeper all the time. Not much gets past them.
