The Mac uses OS X, X standing for ten. Each version has a different code 
name, just like Windows. It's very good because it is easy to use. I guess 
you could get a copy from Apple, maybe the machine originally had an older 
OS. And maybe it is old enough so that OS X would not work? Which model is 
it. But you probably should go to a MAC forum or go to the Apple site with 
the model to see what would run.
