I have a 12 Gig hard drive that I was trying to partition int a 5 and

Hi:
I don't know what you had on there to begin, but it appears you may have
changed the partition from 12 to 7 Gig which will have left you with 5 Gig of
"unallocatated" space. Now you may need to highlight the unallocated space
and "Create" another new partition of 5 Gig.
