Hello again everyone, I have another issue and need some help
please. My boyfriend just bought a new DVD/CD-RW Combo and I
installed it. It plays the DVD's with no problem however it does not
burn cd's, or it does not even read a music cd or detect a disk in
the drive to burn. He mentioned to me that the burner he had in it
before I installed this one was dong the same thing by not reading
the blank disk to burn or reading a music cd. The software he has
for burning is NERO 6. I even tried uninstalling the software and re-
installing it and still same problem. So I tried using a different
burning software Free XP CD Burner and the same thing was happening
so I don't believe it is the software. I checked the Event log and
there was an error "EVENT ID: 7". So then I decided to change the
cord conecting the cd drive to the motherboard hoping that it may
have been just a bad cord and nopes it was not that either. So now I
am puzzled. Could it be the OS or a corrupt file? The OS he has on
there is XP Pro, 1000 MHz and 512 RAM. The computer he has used to
be my old computer, I gave it to him last year and the cd burner
worked fine when I had it so now I don't know what happened to it
now. So the new DVD/CD-RW reads the DVD's fine a however he is still
unable to burn cd's.
Can anyone help or have any idea I may be overlooking? Or should I
just re-install the OS?
Thank you so much!
Cindy
