Some things to note about Vista installation for those who are anticipating.

Vista will Upgrade, Clean install, and dual boot to an existing second
partition or will create a second partition if you have unallocated space
(otherwise referred to as un-partitioned). BUT, Once you have it installed
in
the "C" partition as the primary Operating system, you are stuck with it.
There are NO usual ways of uninstalling it and you can't replace it with an
older Windows. If it is on a second partition you can just delete or reformat
the partition. If you install it as a dual boot, as you may want to while
you're finishing up with XP, be SURE it goes into the right partition.

Anything you are used to such as fdisk will not work. You will get a
message "Sorry Vista is not a DOS partition. Actually, they did not say they
were
sorry.

I think it is PC Beginner in it's suite of utilities where you can find a
bootable program in their CD that will delete the Primary Operating system but
it is treacherous. It will delete everything on your drive including all
other partitions and leave you in the position of needing to reinstall a clean
OS installation. I lost my Gateway recovery partition that way. Lucky I
had it copied to CDs (note the plural).

If you place Vista in a second partition it will however run itself as the
first default OS. but Vista does not appear in XP boot.ini. If you want you
can change the boot order using Vista, but I have not attempted this yet..
Bye

Emile
