I am using a six month old Dell E1505 laptop. The last couple of
days, it will not shutdown. It will hibernate and then wake up just
fine, but it appears to hang when I try to shutdown. I can shut it
off with the power button. Suggestions?
Janet

Do this:

 Try this:
Go to Control Panel, then go to Power Options.

Click on the APM Tab, then check the "Enable Advanced Power Management
support". Click OK.

Shut down your PC.
It should now successfully complete the Shut Down process.
