The trouble with that idea is that it limits our freedoms, we are not
guaranteed freedom from being ripped off. The old saying, Caveat
Emptor may be older than our constitution. I'm not against government
trying to protect us but there is a limit to what government can do. I
was a broadcaster for nearly twenty years and I met lots of folks who
had a First Phone FCC license who did not know which end of the
transmitter the signals came out of.
I prefer that government as much as possible try to keep us informed.
The Fed outlawed cyclamates but still allow cigarettes to be sold. I
guess the cyclamtes lobby did not have the clout that the tobacco
lobby has.
