I tend to remove as many start up items as I can, I use a program 
called startup.cpl. But Vista brazenly makes a new copy of most items 
that I uncheck in Startup. I hate that. I amd able to uncheck most 
items in XP except that pesky ctfmon.exe which Windows seems to restore 
on the next reboot. The strange thing about that program is that is is 
listed as required for MS Office, which I never install.
