If you Google this prob you'll find it is pretty common and the normal
fix is that you have to copy the entire contents (i386 folder) of the XP
install CD onto your Hard Drive. Then download a good copy of the
Contols.man file and replace the one from the CD. Then, re-burn the CD
to a CD-R as an ISO image. Quite a pain, but people say it works.

    Good luck,
    Donk

If you want to keep the job you have- you should only surf on your own time
at home- If it is so important to you to surf the web- get a laptop and keep
in your trunk or your locker and only surf on your breaks- Stay off web
    surfing on company time-

I am looking for a good decent paying job. Let me know if anyone is hiring.

    LOL

Thanks to all I finale got the booting problem fix and it is very
funny. All I did was to put the 3V battery out and test it and the
test came OK about 3V so I put the battery back on after letting the
PC off for about 3 minutes,I put the PC back on and there it came
right on !!!!!!booting perfect Thanks again Donk . Tony

    Hi Tony:
Most metals will oxidize over extended periods, like silver even. This
tarnish will build up between electrical contacts and cause what is called
a
"High resistance contact" and the electronic circuits will not get enough
electricity to function properly. Taking the battery out and reinstalling
it, or
just turning it within its's contacts, will break through the tarnish and a
good connection will be restored. Expensive hardware will use gold plated
contacts to minimize this problem. Bye

    Hi:
Does this happen at the same place during every install attempt? If it
does there might be an unreadable spot on the disk. Is this an OEM recovery
disk or a retail XP version? You can try a good Disk cleaning. Bye

    Hi again:
There are some retail disk cleaning kits that sometimes will repair
defective software disk. If you have access to a retail version of XP,
maybe from
another machine, you can try to install it. That might tell you if your
disk
is bad, if the loaner appears to be installing then you can just abort it.
You can also try your own activation code to see if it completes. Bye.
