Oh, well, so no Safe Mode huh? That changes things...
Are you sure you are pressing the correct keys to enter BIOS or Setup?
Sometimes pressing the Escape key will clear the Compaq logo and let you
see the POST messages on the screen. But anyway, if you really can't
get into BIOS then it's not a software problem - the XP upgrade didn't
cause it.
I'd guess you might be looking at an overheating prob - so do what you
can to clean out any dust.
